July 23, 2007 • United Rentals, Greenwich, Conn., has purchased a fleet of 80 UpRight TM12 personnel lifts. The TM12 mast lift provides a maximum working height of 18 feet, with a 500-pound platform capacity. Its compact design allows the operator to drive through a standard doorway or narrow aisles, and the machine is transportable in most passenger elevators.
“The UpRight TM12 is a versatile lift that is perfect for a lot of indoor applications; as such it will be a welcome addition to United's extremely strong customer offering in aerial lifts,” said United Rentals' Kevin Parr.
The 80 TM12s will be deployed at United Rentals locations across the New England region.
UpRight was founded in California in 1946, but machine production was moved to Europe under the company's previous owners. The new owners reinstated production in Fresno, Calif., last year.
The TM12 is the most popular machine built at UpRight's facility in California. Fresno also produces the UpRight MX19 micro-scissor lift and is the global manufacturing center for UpRight's UL Series of push-around lifts. Fresno presently manufactures about 150 machines per month, with plans to further expand production during the course of 2007 and 2008.
“Bringing UpRight production back to the USA has demonstrated to our customers that we are serious about the American market,” said Stu Cohen, regional sales manager for UpRight. “We are encouraged to be winning volume orders from the biggest names in the business like United Rentals • and are confident that more will follow.”
