Update Powerline Decals on Cranes

September 28, 2011—Some power line warning decals on older cranes may no longer be in compliance with the 2010 OSHA Cranes & Derricks regulation. According to a report given during SC&RA’s Safety Education and Training Committee meeting held last week, decals citing the old “10-foot” rule should be removed and replaced with newer, more accurate decals. If old decals are left on cranes, the committee warned this could become a citation issue in the event of an OSHA inspection.

The meeting was held in conjunction with the Crane & Rigging Workshop in Philadelphia, Pa., hosted by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association.

The committee advised crane owners to contact the manufacturer to see if newer crane decals were available.
