October 8, 2026 - The global wheeled crane market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.5% through 2030, according to a market report from The Business Research Company.

The market is expected to increase from $17.14 billion in 2025 to $18.3 billion in 2026, representing a 6.8% CAGR. The report attributes the historical growth to construction activity, road infrastructure development, demand for mobile lifting equipment, industrial projects, and urbanization.

The market is projected to reach $23.5 billion by 2030. The report identifies investments in smart infrastructure, demand for low-emission lifting equipment, growth in construction equipment rental, utility projects, and adoption of advanced crane control technologies as factors supporting the forecast.

The report identifies several trends expected to shape the wheeled crane market, including increased demand for mobile lifting equipment, use in infrastructure projects, adoption of hybrid and electric wheeled cranes, expansion of crane rental services, and demand for cranes that offer quick setup and road mobility.

The market is segmented by crane type, propulsion, load capacity, application, and end-user industry. Types include cross-country cranes and all-road cranes, while propulsion categories include engine-powered, electric-powered, and hybrid-powered equipment.

Load-capacity segments range from light-duty cranes rated up to 10 tons to very heavy-duty cranes rated above 100 tons. Applications identified in the report include construction, manufacturing, shipping and logistics, utilities and energy, and mining. End-user industries include infrastructure, oil and gas, aerospace, telecommunications, and construction equipment rental.

Cross-country cranes are further divided into rough-terrain wheeled cranes, pick-and-carry cranes, and military wheeled cranes. All-road cranes include single-engine all-terrain cranes, dual-engine all-terrain cranes, and compact all-terrain cranes.

The report also identifies product development as a factor in the wheeled crane market, including increased development of six-axle cranes. These machines are described as offering higher load capacities and maneuverability for construction and industrial applications.

In June 2024, Liebherr International AG introduced the LTM 1400-6.1, a six-axle crane with a 70-meter telescopic boom. The crane includes a Y-guying system, VarioBallast for adjustable counterweight radius, VarioBase for flexible support positioning, and driver assistance systems.

The report says these technologies provide real-time monitoring, load control, and maneuverability intended to reduce operator errors and improve job site safety and efficiency.

Companies identified in the report as operating in the wheeled crane market include Liebherr International AG, Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co. Ltd., Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co. Ltd., Terex Corporation, Palfinger AG, The Manitowoc Company Inc., Tadano Ltd., SANY Group Co. Ltd., Kato Works Co. Ltd., Link-Belt Cranes L.P., Action Construction Equipment Ltd., Broderson Manufacturing Corp., Kobelco Construction Machinery Co. Ltd., Yutong Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., Furukawa Unic Corporation, Shandong Wolwa Industrial Limited Company, Böcker Maschinenwerke GmbH, XCMG, Manitowoc Crane Group, Demag Cranes AG, and Faun GmbH.

The report also notes that Tadano Ltd. acquired Manitex International in January 2025. According to the report, the acquisition was intended to increase Tadano's presence in the U.S. market and expand its wheeled crane portfolio.
