July 2, 2019 – Wolffkran has introduced its new chief technology officer (CTO) Dr. Peter Barton, whose entry into the company is an important step on the ladder of success of the Heilbronn-based crane manufacturer.
According to its new motto, “Wolffkran more – more than cranes,” the company celebrated the start of a new era at Bauma with the appointment of the new CTO. The new CTO is responsible for technology, research, and development since his start in February 2019.
“I am delighted to have Dr. Barton at my side, a highly innovative and dynamic CTO who knows the industry and who is extremely experienced in future-oriented technology, digitization, industry 4.0, and internationalization,” said Wolffkran CEO, Dr. Peter Schiefer. “Together with the Wolff team, we want to continue our successful development.”
Dr. Barton received the SEW - Foundation Graduate Award at Ruhr-University Bochum, the so-called "Nobel Prize" for young engineers, and invented and registered numerous national and international patents. As Head of Development at SEW-Eurodrive, he had the leading role in the start-up-management and development of the industrial gear units division. At SEW-Eurodrive, as well as at Liebherr Components where he was general manager of engineering drive technology, Dr. Barton was responsible for several groundbreaking innovations in the development of future-oriented technologies, products, and strategies.
“I was warmly welcomed by the Wolff [team], and I am delighted about my new task. Team spirit is at the top of Wolffkran’s values,” Dr. Barton says. “Only together, we can successfully tackle the challenges and competition of the global market and further expand our leading position.”
