Franna, the Australian manufacturer of pick and carry cranes, has introduced its largest model to the North American market. The new AT44 US delivers 44 tons of lifting capacity and incorporates patented safety technologies designed to enhance operator awareness and control.
The AT44 US is built for higher capacity lifting applications and features a three-axle design that allows additional counterweight to be carried while maintaining low axle weights for road or site travel. Its control system enables operators to raise the third axle to reduce the turning circle and articulate while stationary, improving load positioning in confined spaces.
With a maximum lifting capacity of 44 U.S. tons at a 3-foot-7-inch radius and a 62-foot maximum hook height, the crane is powered by a 308-horsepower Mercedes engine meeting EPA Tier 4 Final and European Stage V emissions standards. An Allison six-speed automatic transmission provides smooth performance and compliance.
The crane is designed to B30.5 standards and includes a full-width isolated cab for visibility and operator comfort, traction control and hydro-pneumatic suspension for handling. Its high-strength boom is engineered for durability and simplified maintenance.
Safety features include the patented Dynamic Load Moment Indicator (LMI) with Safety Radar, which calculates rated capacity in real time by factoring in boom configuration, chassis articulation, pitch and roll. The Safety Radar provides a visual display of the crane’s capacity across the full working zone, helping operators make informed decisions on planned lifts.
The AT44 US builds on Franna’s expanding North American portfolio, following the introduction of the AT24 US in 2023 and the FR19 US earlier this year.
