Liebherr USA, Co. mobile and crawler cranes received the Environmental Award from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association during the organization’s Annual Conference held on Amelia Island in April 2026.

The SC&RA Environmental Award recognizes member companies that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to environmental protection. According to SC&RA, the awards program highlights achievements in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industries. The organization includes more than 1,350 members across 46 countries.

Simon Schuster, divisional director of mobile and crawler cranes for Liebherr USA, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“This award means a lot to the entire Liebherr team. It not only highlights the great measures we are taking towards a more sustainable future, but it also demonstrates the excellent teamwork between our crane factory in Germany and our mixed sales organization here in the U.S.,” Schuster said.

Liebherr said its mobile and crawler cranes are designed for a variety of lifting applications and that the company continues to focus on sustainability initiatives tied to crane development and operation. The company stated that it is working to reduce CO2 emissions and noise levels on jobsites through alternative drive technologies for mobile and crawler cranes.

According to Liebherr, its technology-neutral approach includes hybrid-electric, battery-powered and unplugged crane solutions, along with mobile energy storage systems intended to support emission-free operation where grid power is unavailable.

The company also noted that its cranes are used in the U.S. wind energy sector for wind turbine erection and renewable energy infrastructure projects. In addition, Liebherr highlighted its Reman program, which remanufactures used crane components to “same-as-new” condition as part of its broader circular economy efforts.

Liebherr said safety technologies remain a focus across its crane lineup. The company’s in-house assistance systems include rear-area camera monitoring, blind-spot detection and collision warning systems designed to improve safety and efficiency on jobsites and roadways.
