June 9, 2026 - Mack Trucks has introduced new driver-focused features for the all-new Mack Granite vocational truck, highlighting updates to cab comfort, ergonomics and technology aimed at supporting operators in demanding jobsite environments.

According to Mack Trucks, the next-generation Granite cab was designed around driver feedback and vocational job requirements, with updates intended to improve comfort, visibility and productivity during long workdays.

“Drivers are the heart of every vocational operation, and they are getting harder to find and harder to keep,” said Jonathan Randall, president, Mack Trucks North America. “With the all-new Granite, we set out to build a cab that drivers want to come back to every day. From the additional shoulder room and premium seating options to class-leading steering and ride technologies, every element of this truck reflects our commitment to the men and women behind the wheel.”

The new Granite interior was developed using feedback from more than 30 professional drivers who participated in an independent clinic at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Drivers evaluated prototype interiors and provided input on ergonomics, control placement and visibility.

Several interior components were developed based on that feedback. A reinforced accessory rail spans the top of the instrument panel and is designed to function as both a mounting point for Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and a grab bar to assist drivers entering and exiting the cab. A built-in metal ELD mounting plate is also included for additional display screens and monitors.

The truck includes a new 12-inch digital instrument cluster called the Mack CoPilot Display, which can be paired with an optional nine-inch infotainment display. Mack said the layout combines digital functionality with familiar analog-style controls to improve usability for operators.

Additional cab features include a flat-bottom steering wheel intended to improve knee clearance and steering wheel-mounted controls for infotainment, cruise control, navigation and lighting functions. The Granite also incorporates stalk-mounted Mack mDRIVE Automated Manual Transmission controls, allowing operators to manage shifting while keeping their hands on the wheel.

To support jobsite communication and device use, the cab includes USB-C ports, 12-volt outlets and an available wireless charging option.

Mack also updated the seating system with a newly designed seat frame intended to improve leg, back and lumbar support. An available premium air-shock seat includes heating, cooling and massage functions designed to reduce driver fatigue during extended shifts.

“Vocational drivers are running their trucks through some of the toughest conditions on the road, and the cab is where they spend their day,” said Tim Wrinkle, vice president, product owner, vocational and medium duty at Mack Trucks. “With the all-new Granite, we focused on the details that matter most to drivers – the room to move, the controls in the right place, the seat that supports them through a long shift – and surrounded that environment with the steering, suspension and ride technologies that keep them comfortable and productive from the first job to the last.”

For crane and lifting applications, Mack noted that its available Mack Command Steer system is now offered in both axle-forward and axle-back Granite configurations. The system is designed to reduce steering effort by as much as 85%, which may support maneuverability across a wider range of vocational applications.

The Granite also introduces the MaxRide Air rear suspension system, an electronically controlled vocational air suspension featuring eight tuned airbags. According to Mack, the system is designed to improve ride quality and reduce fatigue for drivers working in demanding environments.

Durability upgrades include aluminum door handles, reinforced storage pockets and heavy-duty fabrics intended to withstand daily vocational use. The truck also includes the Mack ImpactShield windshield with Corning Fusion5 Glass, designed to improve impact and scratch resistance.

The all-new Mack Granite is expected to be available for order in the second half of 2026, with production scheduled to begin in January 2027 at Mack’s Lehigh Valley Operations facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania.
